Professor Katrina McFerran is Head of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne. Her research has focused on music and adolescents, exploring the potential of group music therapy to foster resilience through a series of investigations in the fields of mental health, chronic illness and disability. She has also investigated music listening by adolescents, particularly focusing on variations in uses of music that are linked to mental health. She has published two books on these topics:’ Music, Music Therapy and Adolescents’ and ‘Building Music Cultures in Schools’.
