Helen Shoemark is Associate Professor of music therapy at Temple University, Philadelphia. Her research is focused on the neurodevelopment of hospitalized newborns in the context of family, and the evaluation of music therapy in pediatrics. Helen has more than 30 years’ experience as a clinical music therapist. Moving from special education and early intervention into pediatrics, in 1996 she established the first program in neonatology in Australia at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. She is a former Editor of AJMT, and is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Music Therapy.
