To find a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) in your local area in Australia, you can use the "Find an RMT" directory provided below by the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).

This directory can help you search for RMTs based on location and specific requirements (aka filters). 

When using the "Find an RMT" directory, you will find contact details such as email, phone, and/or website listed for each RMT. This information will allow you to contact them directly to determine if they meet your specific needs.

Please keep in mind that the directory may not include all RMTs in Australia, as some may choose not to be listed. 

If you need to validate whether an individual is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) and they are not listed in the directory, you can contact the AMTA Secretariat - info@austmta.org.au

Using the "Find an RMT" directory - for best results:

  • When searching within Australia, it is recommended to enter a postcode rather than an address and/or suburb, as these may be found in multiple locations on Google Maps.
  • Commence your search with a range of at least 20 kms 
  • For outer metropolitan and regional/rural areas you may need to expand your search range to 100 kms
  • Be sure to select Australia OR another country from the drop down menu
  • To limit results to a known RMT in a particular postcode / address search area, please enter their last name in the "Surname" field.  
  • Should you search produce a large number of results, consider reducing the search kms, and/or selecting filters.  (Note: Search results are capped at 40.)
  • There are a large number of filters you can select from, please select the appropriate option under 'more filters'.    
  • Once you locate your preferred practitioners, you can download a PDF of information about them for your future reference.  Click on the "More" button to fully populate information on the screen.
