Latest News

The Government Relations committee is currently working with Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia to lobby the federal government to have Music Therapy included in the Medicare Allied Health and Dental Care Initiative and to have Music Therapy added as a GST-exempt service. Representatives of AMTA and NRMTA met recently in Canberra with the Department of Health and Aging to open discussion on this issue.

Submissions are often asked by government departments about areas affecting music therapists.  We have made submissions on the National Arts and Disability Strategy and the review of the Aged Care Funding Instrument. Thanks to the RMTs who have assisted in putting together these submissions.
