Training Institute in Neurologic Music Therapy

Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) is the therapeutic application of music to cognitive, sensory, and motor functions that may be impaired as a result of neurologic disease of the human nervous system. NMT is research-based and its treatment techniques are based on scientific knowledge in music perception and production, and the effects of music on nonmusical brain and behavior functions. Congratulations Emma O’Brian

Registered Music Therapist, Emma O’Brian, has been honoured for the use of music and song writing to improve the quality of life for cancer patients. Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu presented Emma, Melbourne Health’s Senior Music Therapist and Manager, with a Health Leader’s Award for Enabling Person and Family-Centred Care at the 2011 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards in Melbourne.
