More than 25 area services and projects received grants in July under the Community Development Support Expenditure scheme of local clubs. Clubs that earn over $1million annually in gambling revenue are required to contribute 0.75 per cent of profits to community projects and services through the scheme. In turn, they receive dollar for dollar gambling tax deductions.
Successful projects included resources for disability services, community education and training programs, family respite programs for carers and capital equipment for community organisations. Woodbury Autism Education and Research’s Music Therapy Program received a grant of $3500.
