Music Festival for People with a Disability

New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM) director Julie Croft is one of a group putting together a grant application to take to the NSW Arts Council, to develop a regional music festival for people with disabilities across the region.

Tentatively called ‘Break In’, the festival will showcase the benefits of music and music therapy, and enable people with disabilities an opportunity to learn new skills.

The festival will begin with. a series of weeklong music workshops, run by music therapists from the Robin Nordoff Music Therapy Centre in Sydney, alongside professional musicians from NECOM and the University of New England(UNE) music department, who will guide people with disabilities through a musical program that will culminate in a performance.
